Drops After Sentencing Hearing

"Terry Nichols got a second life sentence after his state Oklahoma City bombing trial. He issued an apology many said lacked any new insights."
-- Wall Street Journal, Aug. 10, 2004

What's that supposed to mean, "lacked any new insights"? You'd think Nichols was presenting his companies most recent earnings statement, or debuting a product line. What "insights" was he supposed to reveal about how sorry he is? Was he supposed to be elaborating on his renewed religiosity?

I don't know why this merited a vigorous snicker, but snicker vigorously I did.

I posted it because I thought the business-like tone of the brief was so inappropriate for the topic. I briefly considered writing a full mock article on Terry Nichols Omnimedia, but the headline captures it all, I think.
